As a business owner, your website is one of the most important aspects of your online presence.
But sometimes…you just don’t like the way it looks. Maybe it’s a little bit outdated. Maybe your brand and business have taken a different direction. Maybe you don’t have the time, money, energy, or skills to redesign a new site from scratch.
It’s frustrating, right?
But not all hope is lost! Even if a redesign isn’t in your near future, there are ways to make your site look so much better.
All it takes is a few small changes here and there to have you feeling more confident and proud of your site. The best part? These changes only take minutes.
Let’s get started!
5 Tips to Make Your Site Look Better in Minutes
1 | Use Canva
In case you didn’t know about this amazing, not-so-secret weapon, Canva is a free (!) design and editing tool. With it, you can make some quick updates to the photos on your website to elevate them instantly. Remove backgrounds, add your logo, and add any filters or presets that fit your brand’s look and feel!
Psst! You can even use Canva to design graphics for your site and social platforms. And we have all the Canva templates you need to get started!
2 | Use a Stock Photo Membership
Custom photography for your website can cost a lot of money — money that a lot of small businesses can’t shell out. But with a stock photo membership, you can have stunning, professional photos without the price tag!
Our friends at Styled Stock Society have a library with over 7,000 stock images with more added each week. But don’t let the word ‘stock’ fool you; these are gorgeous photos shot and edited with female entrepreneurs in mind. All you have to do is download the images you want, upload them to your site, and admire how they look!

3 | Fix Broken Links
Nothing is worse than clicking on a link and getting the dreaded 404 error page. So don’t put your audience through that, either!
Here’s how you can quickly search for and fix 404 errors (aka: broken links):
- Log in to your Google Analytics
- Go to Behavior > Site Content > All Pages
- Next to ‘Primary Dimension,’ select Page Title
- Type 404 in the search bar and hit search
- Click on the Page Title results to find all URLs and links that are broken
- Fix them!
If you don’t want to go through those steps, you can also use a tool called Screaming SEO Frog Spider. It crawls everything on your website — URLs, images, PDFs, videos, and more to quickly find and locate broken links.

4 | Check for White Space
If your website feels really cluttered and overwhelming, it probably is. That’s when you can check for white space, which are the areas of a page that don’t contain copy or pictures.
Go through your entire website and add white space where needed — create longer gaps between sections, add more space around pictures and paragraphs, and even add blank canvases to give your entire site more breathing room.Making your site look better doesn’t require an entire team of planners, writers, designers, and developers.
