What if website launch day was something you actually looked forward to... rather than a day that you have to dread? It’s possible! Check out our tips to hype a website launch and make it fun.

1 | Peek Behind the Scenes

Take your readers and clients along with you on the journey to launch your site! We all love a classic behind-the-scenes peek into what is coming and what is in the works. It can also be an opportunity to share a more “real life” insight into what it really looks like to launch a website — the good, the bad, and the ugly!

Another way to showcase a behind-the-scenes peek is to create a “coming soon” teaser landing page. You are able to do the work on the site behind the scenes, while still getting your audience excited. That’s a win-win in our book.

2 | Create a Launch Calendar

We want to encourage you to create a launch calendar and stick to it! This can include emails, social posts, Instagram Stories, etc. The best way to have a successful launch is to pick your launch day and then work backward.

For example, if you are planning to launch your website on August 1, make that your end date, and work backward week by week to plan each email, post, Instagram Story sequence, etc. This way, you won’t skip a beat and your audience will be primed and ready to visit your new site.

We also want you to share it with your biz besties or affiliates so they can promote your launch and hype it up, too. They can reshare your posts or tag you in Instagram Stories they make to support your launch!

3 | Promote, Promote, Promote

You cannot “over-promote” or talk too much about your website launch! Remember, with social media algorithms, your audience may not be seeing everything you post. It never hurts you to talk about and promote your website launch on a consistent basis.

We also encourage you to share countdowns on email campaigns, Instagram posts, and on your website’s “Coming Soon” page. You want to do as much as you can to stay top-of-mind while you work behind the scenes on your site.

4 | Host a Giveaway!

Hosting a giveaway is a brilliant way to create engagement with your followers and readers with little effort on your part. Think about your audience and what platform they most often use, and make sure to share a giveaway there. Of course, always direct them to your NEW site to drive traffic and to pique their interest in your services or products!

Pick a grand prize they will love and that connects to your business in some way, whether it’s free products or services, swag, or something else. You can run your giveaway in a variety of ways. Here are links to full contest rules for Facebook, Instagram, and X.

5 | Drive Traffic on the Day of Launch

Offer a gift or prize to people for “searching your site” the day it goes live for typos or broken links — this makes you more human and it encourages a ton of traffic! You could offer a discount on one of your products or services or offer a free product if you want.

It is an easy, cost-effective way to launch your website with a BOOM with tons of traffic on your page right away. Plus, your new site checkers just might find something you need to fix!

6 | Share a Video

Make sure to share a screen-share video of your website as it comes together. You will want to do this while in progress when it is nearly finished, and then finally completely finished! This is another way to give your audience a behind-the-scenes sneak peek.

Do this on your desktop or phone with tools like Loom or even your Screen Recording app on iPhone!
